Swnt | National Trust | 2014
We were commissioned by Marta Swannie to create a permanent interactive installation for the launch of the National Trust’s Coastal Tourism Centre of Excellence in Aberdaron, North Wales.
The installation draws on the exact time of day, season of the year, weather and tidal level of the sea in Aberdaron to create an ever changing well of light and sound that visitors can interact with by using their hands. Fingertips and palms influence and change the well, rising and falling, ebbing and flowing, much like the nature, sun and skies that surround Aberdaron itself.
Swnt is an audio-visual simulation of the treacherous but beautiful currents that make Bardsey Sound – with a palette of colours that echo the changing appearance of the sea, land and sky of Llyn.
